artist statement
Through my body dance serves as an exploration of my inner world. My most authentic dancing feels good. It physically satisfies the instincts I have to move moment to moment as I subconsciously carve patterns into music, sound, and space. I am a culmination of my experiences in dance with no fixed attachment to any one part. What comes through my subconscious often reflects my current focus but always pulls from my past and what’s most familiar. Dance serves its main purpose as both a mental challenge and release. It pushes me just beyond comfort and demands personal growth while providing space for expression, satisfaction, and connection.
There is only one member of the intended audience for my art: myself. Those who happen to witness my work have accidentally walked into the empty theater where I am performing and decided to stay and watch. My passion lies in helping others experience what movement can do for the self: a form of personal reflection that communicates more than words can express and the mind can comprehend.
